Chrysler Repair: no bus code on 99 cirrus, powertrain control module, body control module

Question
My wife has a 99 cirrus which runs perfectly fine but as soon as the brake pedal is applied, the no bus code comes on, as well as the check engine and airbag lights.  The gauges also stop working.  Once a speed of 20 kmph or higher is reached, the gauges start to work and "no bus" goes away, and once 60 kmph is reached, the error lights go off.  Once the brake is applied again the cycle repeats.  Please help!  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Sheldon,
The brake functioning is sensed by the body computer which uses that information for the cruise controller and also it is used by the anti-lock brake system. My belief is that there would be a fault code stored in the memory of either the powertrain control module or the body control module which you can get by means of a reader plugged into the socket under the dash near the steering column. Autozone parts stores will do this for free or an independent shop will do it for around $40. Ask what are the codes, what they mean, what they would recommend, and how much? Then write back and we can compare that to the shop manual. Also, if you have anti-lock brakes and you get no codes from the first readouts, then you would want to have a separate readout of the controller for the anti-lock brakes.
It could be that your problem is in the instrument cluster, but the readout would tell us that.
That is the best way to go on problems that are related to the digital data bus system.
