Chrysler Repair: fuel level sending unit:LH body, 1996 chrysler lhs, fuel system cleaners

Question
I have a 1996 chrysler lhs, the fuel gauge will read full at times and then drop to E and sit there for most of the time and then bounce a little up and bob up and down. i have tried "fuel system cleaners" and none have seemed to do any good. i am almost certain this is the fuel level sending unit because the car runs perfectly but the gauge doesn't work.  i'm also wondering if there is an access panel to get to the fuel level sending unit? or am i going to have to drop the tank?

Answer
Hi Corey,
There is a hatch in the cabin, under the trunk pad which will give you access to the module and the level sensor. There are about 5 pages in the Chrysler service manual that shows how to remove the unit and replace the level. It is also shown in Haynes manual (#25025).
