Chrysler Repair: 98 Cirrus passenger side mirror, chrysler cirrus, jb weld

Question
We have a '98 Chrysler Cirrus.  Recently I hit the passenger mirror pretty hard.  The black plastic piece that's closest to the car is cracked pretty bad.  We've tried glue, etc, but will probably have to get a new mirror...  Can it be mended from inside?  or if we get a new mirror somewhere - how do we put it on?  Any instructions would be much appreciated!

Answer
Hi Cas,
If you gently lift under the edge of the triangular panel inside the door, you will then have access to the 3 nuts that hold it in place, and an electrical plug if it is a power mirror. Once you have it off you will be able to tell if you can mend it. I have had good luck with two-part expoxy mix compounds* in repairing mirror housings. Or you can get one off of a wreck at a pull-it-yourself yard. Also there are lower cost new replacement mirrors sold on eBay which are usually identical to the mirrors sold for much more at a dealer.

*e.g. JB Weld which comes out dark gray in color so it matches quite well.
