Chrysler Repair: 1998 Chrysler Concorde, 1998 chrysler concorde, exhaust gas recirculation valve

Question
My Concorde is hard starting (car sounds like it is flooding itself out) after running for 25-30 minutes .  If I stop and shut off the car and then try to restart is when I am having this problem.  This does not always happen but seems to becoming more of an issue lately.

Answer
Hi John,
The best thing to do is get a fault code readout via a reader plug-in socket under the dash. An Autozone parts store will often do that for free, or an independent garage will do it for around $40. Ask for the 4-digit fault code numbers, what they mean, what they recommend doing, and how much. Then write me back with the info and we can go from there. It may be something like the exhaust gas recirculation valve being stuck ajar which would cause this sort of behavior, but a readout would give us a better idea. Tell me which engine you have if you respond.
