Chrysler Repair: Upstream O2 sensor replacement, grand voyager, oxygen sensor

Question
How do you replace this sensor on the 3.3 1997 Grand voyager se

Answer
Hi Jim,
The oxygen sensor is simply unscrewed from the exhaust manifold. But the threads will be rusted into the manifold.  You will want to soak the threads with penetrating oil overnight. Disconnect the electrical connector so that you can use a box-end wrench to subsequently remove the old and install the new.  Then run the engine for a couple of minutes to heat the manifold. Being careful not to burn yourself use the proper size box wrench to loosen the threads, rock it back and forth until it unscrews easily. You may want to buy a tap (18 X 1.5 + 6E) to clean out the threads of the manifold.  The new one will have an anti-seize compound that is applied to the threads. Then put it in and tighten to about the same degree as you do a spark plug. Be careful not to damage the wires where they thread into the end of the sensor. Remove the wrench, then reattach the connector.
