Chrysler Repair: 89 Chrysler lebaron/heater motor problem, blower motor resistor, chrysler lebaron

Question
my girlfriend had this  car given to her.The heater didn't work>I replaced the blower motor and still nothing.I believe it is the control switch in the console, its a manual control. But if this isn't the problem what else is there. Some told me about a recall on some part related to this?So any help would be great.

Answer
Hi Bruce,
I assume this is the 2-door J-body coupe or convertible, otherwise let me know.
The blower motor needs fuse 4 (30 amp) to be functional so check that; it might just have a very small crack in the wire rather than be blown. There is a common problem where only the high speed blower will function and that is caused by a blower motor resistor block, located above and behind the glove box being burned out. Otherwise, if the fuse is good and blower motor is good and no switch position causes the blower to operate then it either is wiring or a bad blower motor switch. The dark green wire at the blower motor plug should have 12V on it at all times. After the current goes thru the blower it has to be sent thru the blower switch on the panel and the resistor block and then to ground (via a black wire from the switch to the ground point on the instrument panel right support).
