Chrysler Repair: 1988 2.2L Crank sprocket removal, crankshaft pulley, torx bolts

Question
I have an 1988 Plymouth Reliant, 2.2l, auto, 4 dr sedan. I'm replacing a timing belt. The crankshaft pulley has a center bolt that I have removed but even with a little gentle tapping still refuses to come off. There is what looks like a drive pulley attached to the outside of the main pulley with Torx bolts. Do I need to remove these to expose possibly more attaching bolts underneath and are they normal or reverse thread? The reason I ask is that I can see where one was formally broken off and I can't afford to lose another. I'm a former Tech but its been some years since I turned wrenches for a living and I never was a big Plymouth fan then though I am now. This little car is phenomenal! Almost perfect interior, nice lines, good paint, 4 cyl. gas mileage, decent power and 4 doors to get my kids in and out. Add to that is paid for and you have the perfect little get around car. Thanks- M

Answer
Hi Mark,
There is a crank sprocket removal tool, C-4685 and it appears that it has a flange with two bolts that you have to insert in place of two of the 4 bolts that hold on the pulley. And to install the sprocket you need a L-4524 thrust bearing/washer. Both use a 5.9 inch screw. I guess you are wanting to replace the oil seal. Otherwise are you certain you need to remove the sprocket except to do that? Those parts are Miller tool number from the '89 shop manual and may not be current.
Good luck on the job. Let me know if you want the pages from the manual that show the timing belt replacement. I can xerox and postal mail them to you on Monday. Use the "thank and rate" tab where there is a comment space for your address.
