Chrysler Repair: Steering pump line replacement 99 Concord 3.2, postal mail, sweat equity

Question
My object is to replace rusty/leaking power steering pump lines on my 1999 Concord Lxi 3.2. First how long does this job take for the seasoned machanic? What needs to be removed from the engine in order to gain access to the lines. Do you need any special tools to unhook the lines? How do you bleed the line after the install?
Thanks,
Chris Gervais

Answer
Hi Chris,
I just reviewed the procedure as shown in the '98 and '99 manuals and it looks pretty lengthy. There are approcimately 25 steps to remove and install the pair of hoses that are serviced as a unit. I could list all these if you like but it would be easier to copy the pages and postal mail them to you. Just use the 'thank and rate' tab to enter a postal mailing address in the comments section. The pump will self-bleed the system, and no special tools are required. I don't know the time but I can see where it would be labor intensive so if you are up to saving some dollars and putting in the sweat equity it is something you could do. Very little involves the engine, rather it is a bunch of body, steering and brake parts.
