Land Rover Repair: startup problems, starter solenoid, wont kick

Question
land rover lse 1998 50 th anniversary turn key wont kick over changed starter worked one day then same thing had vehicle lifted on to a flat bed truck to bring to garage put it back down vehicle started up no problem it sits for awhile problem returns all inside lights work it makes it diagnostic check but wont crank over

Answer
Hi Joe,

could it be the wiring to the starter solenoid?  I had a problem were the exposed main lead wire to the solenoid was soaked in oil, road dirt, some corrosion had started and it was even frayed a little.  I cut the wire, soldered a new piece (same gauge) and it's run ever since.

Perhaps the vibrations of the engine (or tow truck) allow a better connection.  Check all the fuses to make sure they are seated properly.

When you changed the starter, did it come with a new solenoid or did you resuse the old one?

Best of luck,
