Can u use a used bcm to replace a bad bcm or do they need programed to ur particular model?

I don't claim expertise with Jeep vehicles but based on what I know of the Chrysler BCM's around the late 90's there is some amount of dealer programming that is necessary to incorporate the specifics of the vehicle into the BCM and the PCM. So if you can find a vehicle whose body equipment is virtually identical then it might work, but otherwise I would think you will need to involve a dealer in some re-programming.
