Chrysler Repair: Starter motor/starting problem: 99 voyager, voyager 2, fuse box

Question
Hi
I have a voyager 2.5 td year 1999 which wont crank. I have had problems recently with the battery and eventually had to get a new one. Shortly after getting new one fitted the car would start then stop atfer 2-3 seconds now it wont crank at all all ignition lights are working and all fuses are good.

Answer
Hi Brendan,
That behavior reminds me of a vehicle-theft system alarmed situation that happens when the battery is disconnected and is mistaken for someone trying to steal the van. I would try first to lock, then unlock the driver door, and if that doesn't work then try the passenger door, using the door key. If that doesn't restore the cranking, then check in the fuse box in the engine compartment for fuse #28 (also might be labelled IOD) and remove that one for about 10 minutes, then put it back in and try the starter again.
Finally, try opening the engine compartment hood, and again using the key, cycle the lock in the rear lift gate to the unlock position and back to neutral
Ideally one of these will clear the false alarm.
