Motorcycle Repair: starter systems, starter solenoid, starter systems

Hi Mark. I am currently custom building a bike and was wondering if you had any info regards, starter system technology. I wanted to remove the bulky battery and replace with something a fair bit smaller in a different location. I did read somewhere about using one of the "jump starter" packs that you can purchase from many shops. Is some sort of capacitor storage circuit desirable or useable?
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

unfortuneately, youre goiong to need a battery to run your system unless you push start the bike everywhere you go with a small sized 12vdc battery. About the only thing I have found to "lighten up" the look and feel of the bike is eliminate the controlls on the bars and use a push button type starter button that mounts right to the side for the starter solenoid. I have one on my chop and it works pretty slick!
