Chrysler Repair: chrysler 300m 3.5L overheating, head gasket leak, radiator cap

Question
2002 chrysler 300M is overheating. thermostat, water pump, radiator cap, radiator, have been replaced. It has been checked for head gasket leak, and the air bled off the cooling sysytem. Where else can we look?

Answer
I've seen this happen alot and I'm almost positive its going to be a cylinder head job. This is what happens, The cylinder Head is aluminum and guess how there milled isn't the best design i don't know Im not a engineer just a Mechanic I do have a print out of this procedure at work but not with me but I will try to walk you through this. You can try to remove the thermostat again and up the the thermostat housing there should be 2 wholes the big whole where the water flows into the hose and right above that there should be a tiny hole. Well I remember your suppose to blow air into that tiny hole but I don't recall where your suppose to hold a rag to see if you can catch some metal filings. Anyway what happens in these heads is the metal filings that have come loose from the head gather up in the water jackets of the head and block the coolant from flowing. You might not get any metal filings in the test they have you do but I've done this repair at least 10 times since I've been at Chrysler and thats what it normally is.The test doesn't always show you the metal filings but even though you don't get them on your rag when you blow into that hole doesn't mean there not plugging up your water jacket in the head. Like I said its normally that on these engines and I would hate to have you do all that work and not be it but you have done just about everything else and Like I said I've seen this issue alot.
