Question
This past week, when I take my car out of park and into drive, the gas pedal is "locked."  You have to really slam on it to free it up.  Also, today I was driving and on the dash where the P R N D and Autostick lights are, they were flashing.  I pulled over and shut off the car.  I waited a few minutes and re-started the car.  Everything seemed fine the rest of the way home.  I am more concerned with the gas pedal problem.

Answer
More than likely its a dirty throttle body If you were to remove the top part of your air filter box and remove the other end of the tube going into the throttle body and look into the throttle body as you open the throttle which is right there on your throttle body where the 2 cables are attached just turn the end where the cables go in and look inside the throttle body there should be a flapper moving if you get some throttle body cleaner or carburetor cleaner and clean the flapper and inside the throttle body walls till it looks like metal again and not black carbon it should fix the gas pedal problem be sure to try to wipe out the throttle body and flapper as well you don't want to over flood the throttle body with cleaner the purpose is to just get the throttle body clean and to try to keep the fluid out of the intake some cleaner will go inside and thats ok it will be hard to start for a second but it will start than it will probably smoke for about 30 seconds this is normal its just disposing of the carbon built up that you just cleaned. You could also take it to a shop and hop a fuel injection service done which will clean the throttle body injectors and intake and I belive it normally runs about $150.00 and while your at it normally you will need a new air filter with this procedure
