Chrysler Repair: 1992 Dodge Dakota No Spark, crank sensor, cam sensor

Question
QUESTION: Well what I have is No spark. I have change everything besides the computer I have changed the cam sensor the ignition pick up the coil basically everything that surrounds the ignition. I have done all the test I know and yes the red and white wire has power going to the ecm. But I don't get the negative pulse from the ecm to the coil what  do I change to get this work. I really want to hear the answer from someone that know dodge better than me.  Thank you for your time.

ANSWER: Hi David,
Have you tried to read out for fault codes using the ignition key? "On-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains 'on', to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to get a consistent set of counts. Then group the counts in pairs in the order of appearance to get the 2-digit fault codes. Then go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a code list or write back and we'll go from there.

PS This is the case in the car models so I would expect the trucks to also have this capability.

QUESTION: Okay I have code 12 which is the been disconnect within the last 50 starts, 26 idle air sensor, and 55 so. I really dont have much there. hopefully that helps you.

Answer
Hi David,
The code for the idle air circuit is actually 25 not 26. There is no 26 code.
The most common cause of no spark due to no pulsing on the coil primary is a failure of the crank position sensor, which is code 11. I don't know if you have a 4 cyl in line engine that may simply have a combined sensor in the distributor (I don't know which engine you have so I don't even know if you have a distriburtor)? If you have a separate crank sensor mounted on bell housing and therefor a separate coil pack, then that would be a candidate for replacement. So this is best I can offer. If you have a distributor, have you checkted the rotor? That is the only other usual reason for no spark if you have a distributor.

Try re-reading the codes to see if you might have an 11, or two codes whose numbers to total to 26 and you aren't noticing a pause.
