Answer
Hi Gary,
I suspect that what you hear click is actually the starter relay which is in the fuse/relay box in the engine compartment. You could remove the lid from that box and listen to hear the starter relay click. If it did, that would take care of many questions. Also if you don't hear the starter motor solenoid click that would be relevant. The only possibilities if it clicks would then be that the contact points inside the relay are oxidized and not conducting (try switching the relay for another one in the box with the same part number or remove the relay and use a heavy gauge wire to jump from the rear pin to the middle pin, B to D if it is labelled), or that fuse G in that same box which provides the current is blown or maybe has a subtle crack in its conducting wire (try substituting one of the other 40 amp fuses temporarily), or that the starter solenoid is defective, or that the battery charge is too low to close the starter solenoid switch (try jumping from another car's battery). You can probably test all those possibilities. You could even try jumping directly to the brown wire at the starter solenoid to test the solenoid directly.
Just in case, check that the battery cable clamps are firmly tightened to the battery posts.
Those are the possibilities, so go to it.
Let me know if something other than what I have conjectured comes up.
