ANSWER: Hi Martin,
You are welcome.
Why not check for spark using a screwdriver with an insulated handle with the tip inserted in a spark plug cap and the screwdriver shaft held 1/4" from the engine block?
Have a helper try the starter and see if you are getting spark. It could be just the rotor is bad inside the distributor for example.

Answer
Hi Martin,
I am at a loss to know why you have a slow idle, but I am glad that it will start at least! The only item I know that will cause a slow/rough idle without setting a code is an egr valve that is slightly open (ajar). The engine may be missing?, perhaps due to fouled/old spark plugs. But without actually observing what is happening, without any relevant codes, I can't come up with any other reason for slow idle. If it were the automatic idle speed actuator, that would set a code. Try taking off the intake air hose where it enters the throttle body and then use a q-tip dipped in solvent to clean the throttle plate on both sides (open the throttle to clean the back side) and also clean out the idle by-pass air channel next to the throttle plate edge. How about the air filter? could it be clogged up with dirt?
Those are my best suggestions until/unless you record a new code..so keep checking for that. You also recall the 21 code which I suggested may have resulted from the MAP sensor being bad. It may be that you need to change the heated oxygen sensor...however, that sensor is not involved in running of the engine, until the engine is fully warmed up, so maybe don't bother with that issue until you get another 21 code.
Good luck,
Roland
