Chrysler Repair: 1996 Grand Voyager Little Heat, calibration procedure, self calibration

Question
My 1996 Grand Voyager Van has lost its will to heat.  When the heating controls are set to any setting, except the windshield, only cold air blows out.  I noticed that if the fan is off and I turn it on in the lowest setting, hot air will come out, but only briefly.  Then its back to cold air.  When the controls are set to heat the windshield, medium-hot air blows out.

The temperature gauge is a middle range.  I changed out the thermostat, but nothing changed.  I tried to find the hoses that lead to and come from the heater core, but I could not locate them in my engine compartment.

Any idea?

Answer
Hi Mark,
I would try to find the two side by side hoses that go into the cabin and when the engine is warm and you are calling for heat to the windshield see whether the hoses are about the same temp. If not then probably you need to back flush the heater core.
The other issue is the self-calibration of the system, and possibly looking to see if the blend door which controls the air flow to the heater core vs the a/c core is not working correctly (remove the steering column lower cover and look at the side of the system to watch for the movement of the blend door actuator while changing the temp setting.
There are about a 16 pages in the shop manual which describe the calibration procedure/ self-diagnosistic which I can xerox copy and mail to you if you would be so kind as to reimburse me at 10 cents per side plus postage by means of sending me back the 41 cent stamps that would cover it.
