Chrysler Repair: How to replace belt tensioner and idler:3.8L, pulley bolt, inner fender

Question
Hello, I would appreciate help and advice on how to replace the belt tensioner and idler pulley on my 1999 3.8 Town and Country minivan. I am not sure where to start. Top of engine or bottom for access. I have worked on plenty of SBC Chevy's but these minivans are new to me. Thanks a million!

Answer
Hi James,
The best access is to go from the front of the engine:
Lift the right front corner (or the front end) and put on jack stand(s). Then remove the right inner fender splash shield between the wheel well and the engine compartment which will give you good access to the tensioner and idler. Just rotate the tensioner arm clockwise (using the pulley bolt for your wrench point) to release the belt tension to remove the belt. The rest of it appears to be unremarkable as nothing else is offered in the Chrysler shop manual. But the trick is to access thru the wheel well as described above.
