Chrysler Repair: the clock display wont turn off, jeep grand cherokee laredo, jeep grand cherokee

Question
Hi I own a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.
I JUST got a new battery for it. Now the clock won't turn off. The bright little green light. The clock on the radio.
I'm afraid it will drain my batterry I don't know what to do. Of course I have to bring it back to see if they know what the problem is. Is there anything you could tell me about this? A young man told me it was the alternator. I have no idea what he's talking about.

Answer
Hi Doralee,
It has something to do with the logic circuit in the radio, but I doubt that it will drain the battery because those LED type displays use very little electricity. You could try using a wrench to loosen the nut on the battery post clamp that is attached to the (-) post on the battery, remove the clamp for a moment, and then reconnect it and tighten down the nut. That may reset the logic circuit that is falsely turning on the clock. But again, I doubt it will drain the battery. Try turning the radio off and on a few times which might also reset the clock logic.
