Chrysler Repair: 2002 PT Cruiser Radiator Fan, radiator fan motor, proper temp

Question
QUESTION: I recently replaced the original radiator fan motor because the low speed went out. New motor worked for about a month and then the low speed went out again. Did I just get unlucky and got a bad motor or is it possible that something else is wrong? Interestingly the 40amp fuse was burned out this time but replacing it did not fix the low speed.

ANSWER: the low and high speed are controlled by a low and a high speed relay  and the PCM. SO if the fuse was burnt  for high  then u have a  short to ground some where on a  wire or the motor drew to many amps.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Kevin,
thanks for the pointers; but I have a couple of follow up questions .... what could be causing the low side of the motor  to burn out and does the low side have to work for the high side to work? From what I have been able to determine the low kicks in when the ac is turned on and the high side kicks in when the proper temp is reached.

Answer
there is no low side and high side to any motor the motor only work when X mount of volts are presented to it  so a low side part would be say 6volts and the high side 12 volts  the motor does not care how many volts U give it. as I said b4  check the relays and short to grounds for the fuse being blown  there is also a fuse for the low side relay.
