Chrysler Repair: Anti-theft device on 94-97 LHS not disarming, 1996 chrysler lhs, chrysler lhs

Question
QUESTION: Hello,
I am having problems with my Anti-theft device. On Saturday I went to get into my 1996 Chrysler LHS and there was no power lights on the inside of the car. Immediately I knew there was a problem with the Anti-theft because this has happened before. I proceeded to lock and unlock the front doors using my key, and after 1 1/2 hrs. I was able to get the lights to come back on in the car, but when I tried to start it, the car would click on partially then die out. After trying this for a few times, my boyfriend and I tried to reset the battery and then charge it. The car will still not start. If you could give me any tips that would be great. I have someone coming over today to try to disconnect the system (maybe that will work ?)

Thank you,
Sara

ANSWER: Hi Sara,
I would suggest that you check fuses # 13 and #14 to see if they are either blown or have a small crack in their wires. If that is ok then try the trunk lock similarly as you have the door locks.
It is unclear to me if you can't get the starter to work or the engine to start (which is unrelated to the theft system) or instead that the engine will start but then dies in about 1-3 seconds (which is what happens when the theft system is in an alarmed state). So tell me about that.
I would not try to disconnect the system as it is built-in to the body computer and cannot be disconnected without messing up the communication from there to the engine controller which will then assure a No Start condition.
Let's try to fix it, not remove it.

QUESTION: Roland,
Yes, the car tries to start but dies after a few seconds.

Thanks,
Sara

Answer
Yes,
Then your theft system is treating you as if you were trying to steal the car because it is still in the alarmed state. There is probably a broken wire in both the door lock switch connections to the body computer. You might be able to fake out the body controller:
Go to an electronics store and buy a 2,700 ohm and 620 ohm resistor (or the closest values you can find). Then access the body computer, located on the passenger side kick panel. You have to remove the end cap on the dash, then peel back the paneling and cloth cover (cut along indents in the fabric) and you'll find the body computer. Release the mounting screw/tab that holds the computer to the panel so you can view the plugs on top. Find the bone color plug and locate pin 9 which has an orange/violet wire attached. Use a straight pin to poke through the insulation to reach the internal conducting wire. Then jump 12V from the battery or any point under the dash where you can find 12V present to:
first the 2700 ohm resistor while the other end of the resistor is touching the straight pin. Then release the touch. Then second, do the same thing with the 620 ohm resistor, apply 12V to it while its other end is touching the pin, and then remove the touch to the pin.
You will thus be doing what the door lock switch does. And that should cancel the alarmed condition.

PS Do not pull any of the plugs from the body computer.
