Chrysler Repair: 2000 Cirrus: right underpanel silencer/duct removal, heater blower resistor, haynes manual

Question
How do you remove the silencer duct?

I want to check the ac/heater blower resistor. I have located a fastener  on the right-hand side of the duct but none on the leftside, yet. I am having trouble disconnecting the left side of the duct. The glove compartment draw is in the way, along with I can't see how the duct is attached on the left. It appears that a flange of the duct goes behind the center console's right side.I don't want to pull on the duct and break it.  Do I need to remove part of the console, glove compartment etc. or I am being too caution and just need to pull on the duct?

Answer
Hi Tom,
My '97 manual and the Haynes manual say to remove the "right under instrument panel silencer/duct". To do so remove the push-in fastener under right end of instrument panel. Then remove part off of center floor distribution duct by maneuvering it.
Then follow the blower motor wire directly to the resistor block and after removing its two screws it should drop out.
It sounds to me like the underpanel should come free with a little maneuvering.
