Chrysler Repair: 2002 Chrysler T&C : no rear lights, volunteer expert, tail lamps

Question
Hi
on my 2002 T&C the rear lights are both defect. The light bulbs are ok (I checked them). The fuses are ok too.
Brake lights work normal. Rear driving light is also working.
What's going wrong here?

Answer
Hi Jo,
I surmise that you are speaking of the rear tail lights (or running lights) of which there should be 4 bulbs involved, correct?
If so, and you have checked fuses 3 and 5 in the fuse box under the dash, and fuse 22 in the power distribution box under the hood, then I would believe that you may not have parking lamps in the front either? Were that the case I would suspect the parking lamp relay is the problem because it provides the switching action that turns on the parking lamps and the tail lamps. It is located in the power distribution box under the hood.
Other than that I don't see how you could lose all 4 lamps at the rear. Check those other ideas and let me know. I am unfortunately working from the '98 manual as I haven't been able to find a newer manual at a price I can afford as a volunteer "expert". But the chances are good it applies to this circuit on your 2002.
