Chrysler Repair: 2000 Chrysler Sebring Convertible JXI, chrysler sebring convertible, crankshaft position sensor

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I bought a 2000 Chrysler Sebring Convertible JXI with about 88,000 miles on it about a month ago. A week after I bought it, I was driving down the street going about 40 MPH when it all of a sudden just lost power, EVERYTHING, no acceleration, steering, nothing. I got it to the side of the road and tried to start it numerous times with no result which eventually of course drained the battery. This happened to me about a week before where I was driving at about 60 MPH and I lost acceleration but then it seemed to gain power back and was okay. After this most recent time, a friend of mine thought it might have been the battery but when we tried to jump it, it wouldn't take a charge. I had to have it towed back to the dealership where they informed me it was the battery. I don't agree, I think it was the alternator but I don't know. A week after I got the car back, I was driving down the road and it did the same thing it originally did where I lost power temporarily and then regained it. I don't understand what is wrong and am getting NO help from the dealership. Please help!
