Chrysler Repair: Stalling in damp weather, damp weather, chrysler intrepid

Question
Dear Roland
I have a 1994 Chrysler Intrepid 3.5 - It keeps stalling in damp weather. My mechanic only suggestion is to add some gasoline cleaner at every second fill up. It does help to have it plug in during these damp weather. I have not change the sparks plugs. Can you please help. Thank YOu

Answer
Hi Porcelain,
I would suggest a couple of things. First, see if you have any fault codes stored in the computer. Use the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Then repeat to be sure you have an accurate set of counts. Then group the counts in pairs in the order of appearance to form the 2-digit fault codes. Then go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a translator or write back with the results. 55 will always be the last code because it means "end of readout".
Second, in the evening in a dark location start the engine and observe for any arcing to be occuring around the spark plugs, plug wires, or spark coil pack. Such arcing is indicative of a componenet that has compromised insulation and which should be replaced. Spark plug wires are the likely suspects. The arcing means the spark energy will be compromised which then causes missing and finally stalling.
Let see if either the codes or some faulty high voltage components may be the cause of this stalling.
