Chrysler Repair: faulty distributor, spark coil, cam sensor

Question
Your question was

"I own a 2000 Sebring  convertible millage is aprox 197,000 recently  it devolped a distributor problem my mechanic has replaced the distributor twice  each one going bad within 20 miles of taking it out of the repair shop. I am curious is there anything that needs to be replaced  reset or or  removed to keep this problem from devolping again. It has been explained by the local dealers that it is just bad reconstruction of the distributor and a faulty  design. anything  you can  give us to resolve the problem and save his time will be greatly  appreciated. thank you in advance,  Lou Saftler"

Answer
Hi Lou,
Sorry to report that I have not learned of anything that can be done other than to replace it. Combining the spark coil and cam sensor with the rest of the distributor seems to make these units trouble-prone. There is no programming involved with the distributor itself, and nothing is reset when you install it. No other subtle points of which I am aware. As long as they are being replaced under warranty there is not much else to do about it as far as I can see. I hope the most recent replacement ends your problems.
