Chrysler Repair: 2000 Cirrus 2.5 ltr. 6 cyl.: blower has only 1 speed, fan motor speed, motor speed control

Question
Can you tell me where the fan motor speed control for the heater is located or give me the fan motor part #.
I only have high working.

Answer
Hi Bruce,
The problem is what is called the 'blower motor resistor block', not the speed control switch. This set of resistors is what actually responds the switch and is supposed to produce the various voltages for the fan speeds. If you follow the wires from the blower to their other end you will find a plug at that block. The block is mounted in the air duct (so as to keep it from overheating). A couple of screws hold it in place on either side of the plug socket. Remove those screws and the block will come out of the duct. Get a new block (dealer or maybe a parts store), install it, and you will have your other fan speeds. Check that the resistors aren't touching eachother before you install it.
