Chrysler Repair: P0441 error coe and plug question, gas vapors, champion plugs

Question
Hi,
My check engine light has been on for a while (I tend to ignore it because it comes on sometimes and then goes off - the dealer says its our California gas).  But it has been on for a long time so I bought a scanner and read P0441 (EVAP Emmissionpurge flow) error.  I saw your answer to someone else about the same error and you told him to use champion plugs.  I have a 2003 PT Cruiser Turbo and was told NOT to use platinium plugs, but was recoemmended NGK IX iridium (LZTR5AIX-13) which I put in about 25k miles ago (30k service), with new wires.  So could these plugs be at fault?  If not, I assume this is a dealer repair then.

Is there any harm in running the engine this way, I have a 1200 mile trip coming up?

Thanks for your help.
Ted

Answer
the evap system is the process of taking gas vapors out of the gas tank and burning them. Here is a list of possible causes by that code.

NVLD SWITCH OPERATION
VEHICLE HISTORY AND SERVICE BULLETIN INVESTIGATION
CHECKING EVAP PURGE SOLENOID FUNCTIONALITY
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID VACUUM SUPPLY
VERIFY NVLD OPERATION
TEST ACTION
