Chrysler Repair: 2000 cirrus code 0700, chrysler cirrus, 2000 chrysler cirrus

Question
Hi. I have a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus with 255,000k on it. I had the check engine light come on after a 'thud' when it downshifted this morning. After that it stopped shifting gears and I brought to a garage. They said the computer said fault code 0700 and that the tranny probably needs an overhaul.(`$2500) The reason they jumped to that conclusion is that I replaced the speed sensor on it a year ago after the same symptoms and it was ok after that. That fact along with the mileage makes them think it is a larger problem. What do you think? Is the car pretty well scrap?

Answer
U need to take it to a place that can read the tranny computer to get the real codes. The p700 just tells the engine computer that there is an issue with the tranny. Does not mean that u need to sped that amount of money for a rebuild when its not needed.
