Chrysler Repair: reverse light wiring: 91 Dodge Spirit, dodge spirit, cyl engine

My husband id trying desperately to figure out why the reverse lights won't work on the 91 Spirit we just got. We can't find a schematic anywhere and I thought maybe I could find him some advice here. He has put in new bulbs and had no luck.

Hi Lorna,
The system is fairly simple (I assume that you have a 4 cyl engine, otherwise let me know because it is different for the 6 cyl engine). Fuse 11 under the dash provides the power. It should show 12V on the fuse when the ignition is "on". The current then goes to a switch on the transmission (white wire) and the switch should close and show 12V on a violet/black wire at that point when you put the trans in reverse. That wire goes all the way to the rear (left side panel) where it goes thru a 12 wire disconnect coupling and from there to a single splice near the bulbs where it is split to provide voltage to each bulb. So check the voltages along that path.
