Chrysler Repair: Eagle Vision only blows hot air, climate control unit, diagnostic capability

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I have a 94 eagle vision and the temperature control is nolonger working: it only blows hot air no matter where I set the temp at, everything else works fine. I had some problems with it about a week ago where it was only blowing cold air. I simply set the temp to the min 65 and then to the max and it started working again. Is there a problem with the DIGITAL HVAC CLIMATE CONTROL unit?

ANSWER: Hi OJ,
The quickest way to find out what is wrong is to take advantage of the built-in self-diagnostic capability of the control panel. Go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes-climate.html for the procedure to get the fault codes to readout on the display. Then let me know what code(s) you got and we'll take it from there.

QUESTION: I tried out the self diagnostic of the unit. It went through the self test mode and it simply flashed the temp setting of 75 over and over again. There were no code that appeared, it simply went back to normal. But it is now responding to the temp setting again, did it loosen something that was stuck? I guess I'll see how long till it fails again.

The car codes that I am getting is {12,33,66,55} if that helps.

Thanks

Answer
Hi OJ,
Only time will tell what happens. But I'm glad it appears to work. I don't know if the codes are current, or maybe stale but the 12 means the battery supply was disconnected sometime in the past 50-100 key cycles, the 33 means the a/c clutch circuit is out of order, and the 66 means a problem with the digital data bus. That last one is consistent with the heat/ac panel being a problem for you because the data bus has to work for the communication of the unit to be functional. The 55 means "end of readout".
You can erase the codes by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, but that will give you a fresh 12 code, but then you could see what else shows up anew. On the otherhand, you could leave well enought alone. Its your choice. Thanks for the report.
