Chrysler Repair: 2001 Town and country transmission, caravan voyager, chrysler voyager

Question
I own a 2001 Town and Country with 78K miles. In 1st gear and reverse if you take off and speed up quickly the steering wheel shudders. The same happens in reverse. In the morning when the engine is cold this does not happen . I thought it may be the transmission oil needed changing as it may have effected the torque converter so I have had that changed today but the problem is still there. Any ideas what may be wrong? Thaks for your help

Answer

Grinding/Clicking/Knocking Sound or Vibration In Front End
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspection of the right engine mount
MODELS:
2001 - 2002 (RS) Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager

DISCUSSION:
A broken right engine mount cast bracket may cause a variety of customer complaints.
The sounds associated with a broken right engine mount cast bracket can be described
as a grinding, clicking, knocking, metallic, or rattling from the front end of the vehicle. The
customer’s description of the sound or vibration may include, but are not limited to:
• Sound in steering while turning
• Sound when shifting into Drive or Reverse
• Sound or vibration when accelerating
To prevent misdiagnosis, it is recommended to first check the condition of the right engine
mount before inspecting suspension, steering, wheels, and/or body components. To inspect
the engine mount, open the hood and locate the right engine mount cast bracket positioned
above the accessory drive belt. Move aside any hoses or wiring that may cover the mount.
If the aluminum cast bracket has broken (complete separation), refer to the MDS2 or the
appropriate Service Manual for the right engine mount replacement procedures.
