Chrysler Repair: bad wiring / bcm: LH 94, airbag module, turn signals

Question
I have a 94 lhs 3.5 I bought the car less then a week ago.  It started to pop the trunk when I turned it on. I unplugged the trunk release. Later that night when i was driving my turn signal indicators lit up along with the high beam and atc blower stopped or slowed alot. also my dash lights were out and since my indicators were on I couldn't use my turn signals.  Yesterday i bought a junkyard bcm everything worked except cruise control was intermintent. Also if i had the ac blower up full blast it wasn't as cold as one less click. I then hit my horn later and it popped my trunk. Once again I disconnected the trunk all was well for a good 90 mins of pizza delivery then my turn signal lights came on again but as long as I turned the atc down I could use my turn signals The blower slowed lights inside started to flicker I tapped my bcm it went away came back in a few minutes. I think I have a short or a bad ground. I have no clue where or what grounds to check. please advise. I know you the best hope for a diy. The dealer is booked until next week and i have to work in the evening this week i need to fix it.
Thank you in advance,
Bobby Watts

Answer
Hi Bobby,
Your attention to grounds is a good idea because those "gremlins" seem so unrelated. There are a couple of ground wires for the bcm, both on the bone plug (pins 14 and 21). Both of them go to the bracket that is related to the airbag module which is located at the base of the center console, right on top of the tunnel. If you have the 6 passenger model just remove the lower center cover trim panel (2 screws) for access. On the 5 passenger model you remove the ash receiver, the shifter knob and the shifter bezel, and the receiver wiring to gain access to the area.
There are two separate ground screws for the two wires. You might want to disconnect the battery first just to avoid any shorts though that will require resetting the radio afterwards, and might cause other issues, so take your chances if you like.
The other possibility is that there is corrosion on the bcm plugs/sockets where water may have dripped down on it from the corner of the windshield. So look those over and spray them with electronic contact cleaner if they appear corroded.
Let me know if the ground cleanup doesn't help.
Good luck on the project.
