Chrysler Repair: Concorde engine cuts off, hi chris, warning lights

Question
While driving my Concorde it will cut off without warning. No warning lights or messages. It has even started itself after cutting off.

Answer
Hi Chris,
What year and engine do you have?
When you say "no warning lights or messages" do you mean that the "check engine" light did not even illuminate briefly when the engine shut off and when you turned the key to off to begin the restart process did the check engine light then come on briefly (as is normal)?
And do you mean b "no messages" that you tried the self readout ('96 or earlier) or had a readout via a code reader plugged in under the dash ('97 or later) and that you got no fault code numbers (2 or 4 digit, respectively)?
I can be more helpful if you can tell me the answers to these questions. When the engine dies and then will restart, but then dies again a little further down the road, etc. that is ofter a sign that one of the two ignition sensors is beginning to fail when it gets warm, then cools and recovers, only to fail again, etc. It would be good if you could get a code for which one if that were the case. For the '96 and earlier a code 11 or 54, and for '97 and later a code 720 or 740 would be sign of which sensor to replace.
So follow-up with that information.

If you have the earlier type vehicle take your ignition key and go "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light which remains "on" be begin to flash-pause-flash, etc.
Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat for accuracy. Then group the numbers in pairs in the order of readout. The last two sets are always 5 in each, so that is the code 55 which means "end of readout". See what other codes you get and write back or go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a decoder.
