Chrysler Repair: 94 concorde high beams stuck in on position, chrysler concorde, high beams

Question
I have a '94 Chrysler Concorde that the high beams are stucck in the on position and will not turn off. I have to remove the fuse to get the lights to turn off. Also the wipers on the same stick only work if you push in for mist they will not work in intemittent or constant speeds.   All this seems to have happen after the window was left down in a rainstorm.

I think it may be a multi switch but am not sure which one or where it is located.

Answer
Hi Anthony,
It could be either the headlamp switch OR the dimmer switch. Both get power directly from the battery but the normal high beam function has to have both the headlamp switch in the 'on' position AND the dimmer switch to be stuck on "high" for it to be the cause; while the dimmer switch also has the momentary "high" position (so-called optical horn) which would also stay 'on' by itself if that switch had its contacts stuck together. So I would begin with the dimmer switch (which is part of the multifunction switch on the column)which has a 7 wire plug and check to see if there is a permanent connection between pin 6 (red/white) and pin 4 (red/orange) which there shouldn't be; it should only be connected when you try the optical horn position. If that connection is solid, then that is why you high beams won't turn off. To get to it,  disconnect the negative battery post, remove the tilt lever, remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds, remove the screws that hold the switch to the column, unplug it. I wonder why you said "fuse" because I would think that you had to remove 2 fuses to kill both headlamps(#11 and 12)? Let me know if you pull some other fuse to kill both headlamps.
Similarly, the same switch is involved with the wipers. I suspect in this case that the internal switch contacts are corroded or dirty. So while you have the switch out spray some electrical circuit contact cleaned inside the switch to see if you can reestablish contact between the dark blue wire and the dark green/red wire (pins # 1 and 3) when you have the switch set for normal wiper function.
It may be that the switch is just to worn/damaged and you will need to get one from a wreck or a dealer.
