Chrysler Repair: neutral safety switch/prdnl switch, sensor wiring diagrams, transmission control module

Question
i received a rebuild trans for a 1996 chyrsler town and country. My old trans had separate neutral safety and prdnl switches. the new rebuilt trans has a trans range sensor. when i put the rebuilt in and test drove it will not shift. my vehicle does not have a plug to match the trs.is there some kind of harness or wiring. Or do i need a new computer.

Answer
Hi Stacy,
This is a tough question to answer. I have a '95 and a '98 manual and they show very significant differences between the two automatic transmission control systems. I would be inclined, all things being equal, to remove the rebuild and get one that is identical to the old one. There are not only shift range control system differences, but also assoicated harness and transmission control module differences such that I would wonder if you will ever get this one to work with your present set up. I can share the pages that show the '98 with its range sensor wiring diagrams and you can decide whether you want to try it.Use the "thank and rate" tab to tell me your postal mailing address and I'll xerox and postal mail them to you.
