Chrysler Repair: 93 Concorde wacky electrical of various body systems., side kick panel, electronic circuit board

Question
Recently my key-less door/trunk fobs(2) stopped activating locks, at the same
time the trunk started popping open intermittently and occasionally the the door
locks self activate. Also, heater went on and wouldn't adjust to low temp(but
will turn on/off). Don't know if related, but after a/c charge it would blow
cold intermittently (just prior to the above problems) then stopped blowing cold
(no leaks after recharge). Is this a bad BCM, is there a test to check?  And
could the a/c be part of the issue or is it separate?  -- '93 3.5L low mileage
but lives in desert heat.

Answer
Hi Larry,
Yes, all those systems are in one way or another mediated by the body computer. It is located on the passenger side kick panel, to the right of the passenger's right leg. To get to it you remove the end cover cap of the dash on that side, then remove the side trim panel, pull the carpeting back to expose the dash liner. Cut along perforated lines of the liner and pull back to expose the module. There is a screw that holds it, accessible thru the right knee bolster, and push-in fastener on the lower leg of the module, then pull down and out. There are three plugs on the top. What can happen if you have a leak around the windshield just overhead of the module is that water will drip down on the plugs and sockets which then causes very unpredictable gremlins. So you might buy some electronic circuit board spray cleaner and use it on the sockets and plugs to dry up/clean the interfaces. Multiple faults that all involve the BCM are like this. Also check fuses 14 and 17 under the dash that supply power to the BCM. On the fobs I would also consider replacing the batteries.
