Chrysler Repair: Radiator Fan Problems: 92 mini-van, air distribution system, radiator fans

Question
Hi Roland I have a 1992 Plymouth Voyager 3.3 and the radiator fan will not turn on when supposed to, engine temp sensor has been replaced, and I don’t know what relay runs it, all I know is one of the four relays on the drivers side wall of the engine will be for the relay what else is there that I could check for, also my AC blows cold, plus the second fan will not run, neither will run when the car is hot or AC is turned on. Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Answer
Hi Dorian,
The high current necessary to power the fan comes directly from the battery to the two fan relays, and the only possible issue with that is an orange fusible link grouped with others near the battery. My '93 manual shows there to be one fans, with two speeds, each with its own relay. It shows 5 relays on the left fender the front and rear most being the high and low speed, respectively. So if you only have 4 relays we need to determine which is for the fan and how does it produce 2 different speeds. I am afraid that without the '92 wiring diagrams I can't tell you specifically which relay is for the fan. The second, third and fourth relays are for fuel pump, starter motor, and automatic shut down, respectively. So I would appreciate clarification of whether you have one or two radiator fans, and which fan are you referring to where you said, "...also my AC blows cold, plus the second fan will not run, NEITHER will run when the car is hot or AC is turned on." Are you speaking of two separate radiator fans, or are you speaking about one radiator fan and the blower fan for the air distribution system inside the van?
So because I don't have a '92 van manual and you speak of four relays rather than five, I am at a disadvantage to give you much that is useful. I can ID the wires of the fuel pump, ASD, and starter relays so by elimination we might be able to conclude that the fourth relay is the fan relay. So let me know if you want the color codes for those three relays which should be the same in '92 an '93.
