Question
i i cant figue out  how to remove the rear cover of the right cam sprocket in my 97 cirrus so i can properly install the timing belt. is loose but it doesnt seem to wanna slide out and there seems to be something blocking it from moving up or down . can you please help me or direct me to a sight that cam instruct me on how to do this . i have the automotive repair manual but it doesnt help me in anyway . thank you

Hi Jeff,
While I have not changed a timing belt on the 2.5L V6, as I look at my Chrysler and Haynes manuals I see that in addition to removing 3 bolts for the covers proper, you also have to remove:
-the engine mount bracket and the engine support bracket (after having supported the engine with a jack with wooden spacer block from below the oil pan; notice that the 3 bolts that hold the support bracket may be heat seized and so you will want to use lubricant and gently rock the bolt heads back and forth until the seizure condition loosens so that you don't break off the bolt heads)
-AND also remove the power steering pump bracket and pump assembly (suspend the pump and bracket with a wire so the hoses don't have to support the weight).
Then you should be able to remove all the belt covers.
Please let me know if this is not clear or sufficient instruction. I can copy a page out of the '95 Chrysler Shop manual I have that shows all these items and snail mail it to you.
