Chrysler Repair: A/C condensate drainage system overflows onto cabin floor, drip pan, drainage system

Question
I have a leak on the front passenger side right between the firewall and the A/C unit drain.  I have no idea how to clear the drain or fix the leak.  Looking for some guidance.  Thanks for the help.

Answer
Hi Bill,
If this is water (not coolant which of course has a smell of antifreeze to it) then what is probably wrong is that the drain for the drip pan, into which the moisture that is condensed from the air when you run the a/c and freezes out on the coils of the evaporator and subsequently melts when you turn off the system and collects in that pan, is plugged up. You will notice in warm weather a puddle of water under most recently parked cars, mid-line at about the point of the firewall between the engine compartment and the cabin, and that is the water from the drip that has drained through a hole in the firewall via a rubber tube attached to the drain hole in the pan. The rubber tube has a small flap to keep mud from plugging up the lumen of the tube but it gets crudded up nonetheless by mold/mud/leaves etc. So what you need to do is get under the van and look around the lower edge of the firewall a little above the floor level to find the drain tube which should be near the mid-line of the van. Take a stiff wire and gently insert it into the lumen of the tube to loosen up the build-up of debris so that the water in the pan will now drain out. Keep clear of the tube opening so it doesn't fall on you.
That should keep the pan from overfilling and overflowing into the cabin.
