Chrysler Repair: 97 Chrysler Concorde egr valve replaced, now high idle rpm, egr vavle, egr valve

Question
My 97 concorde had the engine light come on, checked the code, bad egr valve, which I suppose is why it idled rough.

I replaced it saturday, now the engine wants to race up to 2500 rpm at "idle"

Should I remove the egr vavle again and check all the seals?
I am guessing its leeaking air in somewhere, am I assuming right?

Answer
Hi John
Yes, if the only thing that you changed/touched was related to the egr valve, and now the idle is high, then that would be a logical action. If you have an air leak into the intake system, the engine control system will sense that the mixture is too lean and attempt to get it back to normal by adding fuel to injectors via a longer pulse period. Result is a high idle rpm.
However, take a look at anything else that might have been disturbed during the replacement, just in case you don't have a leak. I have the pages from the '94 manual which I could xerox and postal mail to you if you are uncertain about some aspect of the job. Let me know a postal address if you want them, but also which engine you have.
