Chrysler Repair: thermostat housing/changing: 2.5L V-6, air intake hose, upper radiator hose

Question
where is the thermostat on a 2000 sebring convertible located and what is the book rate on changing one out.

Answer
Hi Don,
The thermostat is located in a housing at the rear of the engine, underneath the air intake hose that goes to the throttle body. To get to it you just have to remove 3 bolts that hold the water intake manifold where the upper radiator hose enters the engine. Inside that manifold is where the thermostat is found. Mount it with the vent hole up, and tighted the bolts to 11 foot-pounds torque. You would begin the process by draining off some coolant (maybe a couple of quarts) from the radiator to bring the level down to below the housing level, then replace it when done.
I don't know the time involved exactly, but a half an hour should be enough.
