Chrysler Repair: 88 LeBaron digital dash, digital dash, orange wire

Question
I have a 2.2L turbo with a digital dash.  While repairing the rear window, I disconnected the battery.  When I reconnected it, everything worked but the dash.  I removed it and checked it out, the fuses, power to it, etc.  Everything checked out ok.  The unexplainedly it started working again.  Later when working on the front window, I disconneted the battery again.  Same thing happened with the dash panel.  It is completely dark.  Everything else works including the message center.  Is this a computer problem or just an electrical problem?

Answer
Hi Leonard,
I don't believe this is a computer problem which would rather cause a non-display of the readout values instead of non-illumination. I would verify that you have a constant 12V from the battery on the red wire at pin 26 of the blue connector and the dark blue trace wire on pin 25 when the ignition is in the run position, and the there are ground connections (0 ohms resistance measured to ground on the black/orange wire on pin 23 and the black/light green at pin 18, also check the other end of those wires for a firm ground attachment at the nearby lower left dash support bar). If those check out then take a look at the solder connections between those same pins and the circuit board traces to see if you might have a cold solder joint. Maybe too check the dash dimmer switch setting, though that is unlikely the cause.
