Chrysler Repair: P0601 Fault Code: ECM failure. Under warranty?, daimler chrysler corporation, cheksum error

I can clear the code and as soon as I start up the code re-appears. Reader says it is a cheksum error in the PCM. If this is an emissions problem is it covered under the 7/70,000 mile federal mandated warranty?

Hi Wil,
By definition of the code, there is clearly a problem with the engine controller module and it would be reasonable to believe that would impact the emission systems. There is no doubt an official ruling on this matter in the eyes of the Daimler-Chrysler Corporation which I would begin to determine at a dealer. Then a regional service manager, then corporate headquarters , and finally the US EPA. Somewhere up that chain I hope that you would find a ruling that the ECM is covered under warranty. I personnaly don't know. But when you find out I would be interested in knowing.
