Chrysler Repair: Starter does work, is it ignition switch? 92 LeBaron, torx screws, key cylinder

-----Question-----
Key will not engage the starter.  When turned to start position, it remains there instead of springing back to run position.  It does feel like it is going all the way to start position, but since engine doesn't turn, I'm not positive - it might be going only to run position and stopping.  I'm reluctant to pull the steering column without knowing if that's where to look...  Help?
-----Answer-----
Hi Dave,
If you have a helper, go to the power distribution box under the hood and check the starter relay which is the outside most one to see if it clicks when the helper tries the key in the start position. If the trans is in neutral or park it should click. If it doesn't click then you can remove the relay and see if 12v appears on the inboard-most pin of the socket (yellow wire) when the start position of the key is tried. If not, then most likely the switch is bad.
If you have to remove the switch, you only have to put the shifter in park, remove the - post clamp from the battery,
remove the tilt lever (turn counter clockwise), remove upper and lower covers from the column (screws on underside), then remove torx screws, then remove two plugs,
then to remove the key cylinder put in the lock position:
press retaining pin on side of housing until level with same, rotate key to off position which unseats the cylinder but don't remove the cylinder yet, rather rotate the key  back to the lock position, remove the key, then the cylinder.
I can give you the reinstall steps later.

Follow-up

Thanks so much for your reply.  There is no click in the relay, but I don't think that's the problem.  The key does not spring back from start position to run position, therefore is not engaging anything - I do believe it's the switch / key cylinder.  I originally thought it might be the linkage between the ignition lock (key) cylinder and the ignition switch, but on inspection, I don't see any linkage at all...

I removed all the trim before I asked the first question, but can not find a retaining pin anywhere on the cylinder housing??

Frustration...

Answer
Hi Dave,
The key cylinder retaining pin is very subtle: at the base of the lock cylinder housing on the side that faces the rear of the car you should see a round top raised area (like a minuature horizontal arch) inside of which is a small pin which if pressed will begin the process I described. Follow those steps and it should come out. You are correct, by '92 the separate switch/lock cylinder design had been phased out.
