Chrysler Repair: 96 Van HVAC: no front blower, no heat, blower motor resistor, diagnostic capability

Question
96' Chrysler Town/Country with no heat or air.  I have replaced the blower motor, resistor, thermostat, and the fuse is good.  The auxillary motor works but there is no heat.

Answer
Hi Jim,
I have a '95 and a '98 manual each with wiring diagrams which are quite different. I assume that the '96 is more like the '98 so let's go with that one. There are a chain of fuses from the battery that all need to be good to get blower motor function: fuse 26 (40A) in the PDC under the hood, fuse 12 (10A) in the junction block under the dash, and fuse 21 (40A) in the PDC under the hood. So I would check all those with a meter and visually (for a crack in the wire). Then verify that you have voltage either all the time or when the key is in the run position at these sockets. Then see if the blower won't run. Also check the plugs at the PDC and junction box to be sure they are 'in' fully. Then I would check the fuses that bring power to the control panel: #6 and 11 in the junction block (both 20A). If none of those suggestions are helpful there is a self-diagnostic capability that we can look into as regards getting some heat via control of the blead air door. But let me know if these suggestions appear to apply to your circuits and if any are helpful so I know if we are looking at the same things.
