Chrysler Repair: Valve body removal: 41te transmission, solenoid pack, valve body

Question
Hi Roland. I have a 1999 Plymout Voyager, and need to replace the shift solenoid pack. It has the 41te transaxle, and was wondering if you tell me what bolts or screws need to be removed  from the valve body in order to remove it. Also, what precautions should be taken(because of the springs etc...) Any help will be very much appreciated! Thank you,
Bryan

Answer
Hi Bryan,

Disconnect the shift cable from the shift lever.
Move the shift lever as far clockwise as it will go, this will be one position past the L position. I believe at this point you would remove the lever from the shaft for subsequent clearance when you remove the valve body.
Remove the pan bolts (Use RTV when reassembling, a 1/8" bead around the circumference and also use under bolt heads)
Remove the pan
Remove oil filter (held in place by 2 clips, note o-ring)
Remove valve body to case bolts (18)
Under the valve body, at the corner directly across from the filter o-ring, you will see a parking sprag guide bracket and rollers. Use a screwdriver to push the rollers from the guide bracket.
Remove valve body assembly, but be careful to note the position and parts of the overdrive and underdrive accumulators and their springs which will very likely fall out (they are hidden above the valve body) when you pull off the valve body, so that you can replace these when you reassemble it. Remove the body slowly and attempt to see these accumulators as they fall out to note them and their position.
Be careful with the valve body to not drop or mishandle it as the manual shaft pilot may be distorted. Make sure the manual valve lever is fully clockwise when you go to reassemble. And re-guide the park rod rollers into their guide bracket while shifting the manual lever assembly out from its installation position.

That is the text from the '98 manual for valve body r&r, There are about 6 diagrams on the page. Let me know if you want those and I can xerox and postal mail them to you.
