Chrysler Repair: Cruise control doesnt work: Stratus/Cirrus, throttle linkage, chrysler stratus

Question
Sorry poor english... Our Chrysler Stratus 2.5 LX (Cirrus in the US?) doesn't work any longer. The light on the dash works fine, but the rest has gone right ..... It's a 95 mod, that else works just fine at 230.000 km (160.000 miles)

Answer
Hi Lars,
First would be to observe that the speedometer is reading out in a smooth manner. Any flutter can compromise the cruise control.
Then the possibilities are several. First do a fault code test using the ignition key: "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing this is 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light to begin to flash, pause, flash, pause etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to assure accurate count. Then combine numbers in the order of readout to form two-digit numbers, the last of which is always 55 which means end of readout. A 15 code (speed sensor) or 34 (speed control solenoid circuits (vacuum or vent)) would be relevant to the problem. Let me know what you get or go to www. allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a translation.
Then check over: is brake lamp switch maladjusted such that brake lamps are on all the time
loose or broken connections at the speed control unit
loose of leaky vacuum hose connections to the servo
speed control cable attached at servo and throttle
smooth operation of throttle linkage and throttle valve
If all that checks then the speed servo itself needs to be checked. The servo is mounted on the in-board side of the driver's side strut tower.
Let me know what you learn and we can go into detail once you have localized the problem more.
Your English is fine!
