Chrysler Repair: lebaron, windshield wipers, starter solenoid

Question
hey. i bought an 89 lebaron in august of 06 and its been doing okay since then but i think it may have an electrical prob or something im not sure cause the other day it just wouldn't start. i knew it wasn't the battery because the radio and stuff still came on but after the second try it came on. when i frst got it the windshield wipers went out but the horn already didn't work. i dont know. what do you think. thanks.

Answer
Hi Androu,
I would open the hood and have a helper try the ignition key for you to the starter position. You should listen for a click to come from the starter relay on the shock tower on the driver's side of the car. If you get that click that is good. If not, then try to move the floor shifter slightly which has to be in P or N in the right spot for the relay to click. If you reliably get the click then you have to see if there is 12V getting to the starter solenoid on the starter motor at the brown wire that comes from the relay. If you get that, then either the battery is weak or there is something wrong with the starter motor or its solenoid (which should make a loud click if everything up to that point is ok).
Let me know what you find out and we'll go from there. I have an '89 LeBaron Coupe.
